UK PM slams ‘appalling’ scenes of violence in London
London, June 26 UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson condemned the “appalling” scenes in in south London in which 22 police officers were injured and police vehicles smashed up when they tried to break up an “unlicensed” avenue party.

A spokesman for Johnson stated on Thursday that the UK government could shortly be launching a session on doubling the maximum sentence for assaulting an emergency worker, reviews Xinhua news agency.

“These have been appalling scenes. Violence towards the police will now not be tolerated,” the spokesman said.

“We have been clean that all and sundry who assaults the police or any of our emergency provider workers who keep us safe should feel the overall force of the law,” he stated.

Scotland Yard stated officers have been confronted with the aid of a “hostile” crowd on Wednesday night time as they tried to break up the “block party” on Overton Road, Brixton.

Footage of the chaotic scene indicates guys leaping on a police automobile and smashing the windows.

range of police vehicles have been damaged whilst officers required hospital treatment for his or her injuries, the Met Police said.

Four people, who had been arrested on Thursday for attack and public order offences, continue to be in police custody.

Earlier inside the day, Home Secretary Priti Patel described the snap shots as “thoroughly vile scenes”, announcing that she would be speakme to Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick.

The trouble flared at what police defined the “unlicensed” music event which started out on Wednesday afternoon and ran into the early hours of Thursday morning.
